Margin
about

We started Margin because transcripts are the wrong unit.

Otter, Fireflies, the rest — they all give you the same thing: a wall of words. The interesting parts of a meeting are buried in there somewhere, and the AI panel on the side mostly summarizes the wall back to you.

So we flipped it. Margin's UI is structured like a real document, with a smart margin column. Every meeting forms a spine — a list of decisions, owners, asks, risks, and quotes — that's the actual artifact. The transcript is the citation, not the product.

That's also why Margin runs locally if you want it to. Your meetings are your most sensitive data. Self-host the model, keep transcripts in your own VPC, and we still light up the rest of the product. (No competitor does this.)

The team

A small group of engineers and designers who've been frustrated by meeting tools for a decade. We previously shipped products at Anthropic, Stripe, Linear, and Notion. Backed by a few angels who saw the same problem.

why "Margin"?
  • Metaphor — in real documents, the margin is where readers scribble what matters.
  • UI — our right-hand spine column is literally the margin of the meeting.
  • Business angle — for sales, "margin" means the edge you have.
